Over the last few days we have been delighted to read some glowing reviews for a couple of our favourite wines.
Firstly, Fiona Beckett, award-winning writer, author of 23 food and wine books as well as wine columnist for The Guardian profiled the brilliant Caburnio from Tenuta Monteti on her website matchingfoodandwine.com.
‘If you like the style of super-Tuscans but find the prices a bit steep – the Tenuta Monteti wines are for you.’ ‘It’s the perfect bottle to drink (Caburnio) with some Italian style roast lamb and beans, Tuscan style sausages or even a simple steak.’
We quite agree, as you can see in our June Blog – this is just such great wine at this price level.

The second review came from the brilliant Wine Gang and highlights the super Durou ‘Exception’ Malbec:
‘It’s not that often that you’ll find an excellent quaffing red from Cahors at this price, but Fabrice Durou’s Malbec, technically a Vin de France but from Fabrice’s family estate in Cahors, starts out bright and plummily aromatic, becoming seductively moreish as its fleshy blackberry fruit slides happily across the tongue. Just enough rustic grip on the aftertaste reminds you it can be paired happily with the new season’s pheasant, partridge or grouse.’
