Just as we were thinking that the big names would all wait until after Vinexpo Hong Kong to release, along comes Alfred Tesseron with Château Pontet Canet at £795, one of the real big beasts, and a wine with universally high scores across the board – 97 – 98/100 James Suckling, 94 – 96/100 Neal Martin, 17 Jancis Robinson, 94 Tim Atkin etc. etc.
This is exciting wine, elegant and pure, a lithe ‘realness’ to it. You can really sense the care that has gone into making it, a very distinctive 2015 – and looking at the trading price of recent good vintages (the 2010 is nearly double this at more than £1500, £900 for the 2005) this seems fairly priced.
There has only been a tiny amount of this released, and last years buyers will take priority. As ever you can read more news on our blog, and you can find all of the #Bdx15 releases on Recent Releases page.
Stocks of Pontet Canet are very limited, but please email us or call if you are interested in an allocation.
