This afternoon has brought the releases of our perennial favourite in the sheer deliciousness stakes, 2015 CHÂTEAU HAUT BATAILLEY as well as its senior stablemate 2015 CHÂTEAU GRAND PUY LACOSTE . Both these were showing well and confirming their places as some of Pauillac’s most gorgeous wines. Haut Batailley has to be seen as a true bargain compared to its neighbour Batailley, and will as usual be drinkable quite young. Yes GPL has taken a price hike, but the quality is there and it is still a relative bargain compared to similarly-rated neighbours.
Three other wines which merited one of our ‘‘ marks in the vintage were also released: over-performing Pomerol 2015 CHÂTEAU BEAUREGARD , which has had huge investment by its new owners but sensibly kept its general manager Vincent Priou in charge, and this may be his best-ever wine. Also out are both 2015 CHÂTEAU SMITH HAUT LAFITTE and 2015 CHÂTEAU SMITH HAUT LAFITTE Blanc . Very limited stock of these two, both of which we loved this year.
As always, you can see everything from #Bdx15 on our Recent Releases page.
