“…an astonishing Yquem that will rank alongside the 2001 and 2009.” Neal Martin, RobertParker.com
There may be vintages of Yquem on the market cheaper than this, and it may be said that all vintages of Yquem are pretty sensational, but vintages which are scored up to a perfect 100 are rare. Only 2009 and 2001 have hit this level in the not too far distant past, but both are at a significant premium to this new release (as usual, the 2015 was not offered en primeur), so the lesson would seem to be that if you want some of this gorgeous nectar in your cellar, the time to stash it away is now.
We had an opportunity to re-taste this wine last week, and it confirmed all the promise it showed en primeur and more. As Antonio Galloni noted at the en primeur tastings “Readers who can find the 2015 should not hesitate, as it is truly magnificent!”.

If you ever wish you could pull out a world class dry white wine which is not a top Chardonnay or Riesling, Ygrec is worth more than a passing glance – this is never going to be cheap given the volume produced and the origin, but it is a pretty sensational and very different white wine.
