IWC Awards David Porter Jamie Goode

Last week, at the prestigious Industry Awards for the International Wine Challenge, we were thrilled to bring home the prizes for the London Regional Retailer of the Year, Small Multiple Site Retailer of the Year and Sparkling Retailer of the Year.

The International Wine Challenge is where the best of the wine trade competes, judged by a knowledgeable panel of independent experts – it is an achievement to even make the shortlist for these awards, amongst such stiff competition.

We would not be awarded such accolades, if we did not have a fantastic producers, colleagues and, crucially, customers to support us in our endeavours. And so, to mark this trio of awards, and to say thank you to everyone that supports us, we gave founder Charles Lea the job of selecting half a dozen that are worthy of a celebration for our special IWC Celebratory Mixed Case.

Charles has chosen wines that exemplify L&S’ approach to wine (sourced directly from the producer, from independently-owned wineries and, most importantly, delicious). We’ve included two of each in our limited edition mixed case and as a further thank you, we’ve knocked a little extra off our usual case discount too.

IWC celebratory mixed case2 x GONET-MÉDEVILLE Tradition Brut 1er Cru NV
Expressive aromas of white flowers and subtle peach. Rich and harmonious on the palate, this is inviting and simply delicious, the first mouthwatering sip crying out for the next.

2 x 2023 KRATOS Fiano Luigi Maffini
Lovely fragrant grapefruit, orange zest and wild flowers. Bold and rich in the mouth, great acid backbone overlaid with orange and grapefruit, ready to go.
~

2 x 2023 GRÜNER VELTLINER HT Salomon Undhof
A zippy, peppery white that invites you to keep pouring. The 2023 is the best iteration we have tasted, with a tiny bit more weight than usual, perfectly balanced.
~

2 x 2021 BOLGHERI ROSSO Le Macchiole
‘A gorgeous wine showing how compelling this vintage is on the Tuscan coast. Effusive and deep, the 2021 is beautifully layered from start to finish.’ Antonio Galloni
~

2 x 2021 RIOJA ALAVESA Sierra de Toloño
Pure, supple blackberry and myrtle fruit, floral and with some delicate herbal touches. In the mouth there is a juicy, crunchiness, dark fruit, bilberries, herbs once more, so fresh and pure.
~

2 x 2022 BARDA PINOT NOIR Bodega Chacra
A bright, ruby-hued Pinot hailing from Mainqué in Río Negro. Dry and lean, the palate seems almost infused with flavour, structured with fine dusty tannins and full of ethereal verve.
