High praise from one of the wine trade’s more readable and reliable writers – Victoria Moore, writing in the The Telegraph. An article dedicated to our 25th anniversary, and well worth a read.
“It is my first point of call if I’m after a well-priced grower champagne to take round to a friend’s for dinner.”
Having bigged up our Champagne credentials she goes on, however, to recommend a Nebbiolo, a new one to us this year and one that is exciting a goodly degree of excitement – Nebbiolo Langhe 2012 Cigliuti – from an excellent Barbaresco producer, this joins our impressive line-up of Langhe Nebbiolos bringing a tad more roundness and depth of fruit, perhaps, than the others. A super wine, and cracking looking bottle too:
You can also try a selection of our superb Piedmont Nebbiolos in a mixed case.
Or, you could indulge yourself in a little of the Grower Champagne that Victoria alludes to.
In the meantime, some more of Victoria Moore’s copious praise for Lea & Sandeman that today we are feeling immodest enough to re-publish:
“there are four shops – in Chiswick, Notting Hill, Barnes and Chelsea – and a reputation, achieved through a mixture of hard bloody work and elan, for selling distinctive, cleverly sourced wines, in particular from France and Italy. Lea & Sandeman has become a London institution.”
Best wishes,
The Lea and Sandeman Team
