On Sunday the 6th of April the 160th Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race will take place. A brilliant event, steeped in history, of which we are enthusiastic supporters; not least because it passes so close to two of our shops in Barnes and Chiswick.
Bollinger Special Cuvée Brut
The first ever race took place in 1829, the same year as the creation of the house of Bollinger in Champagne. This coincidence was as much of an excuse as was needed for Bollinger to become the race’s official sponsor – and so we are delighted to be working together to offer our customers the fabulous BOLLINGER Special Cuvee Brut at a very special price for a limited time around the race:
- £37.95 by the bottle, down from £42.95.
- £35.00 per bottle if buying 6 bottles.
- £33.95 per bottle if buying 12 bottles.
A whistle-stop trip last week to Bollinger was a great reminder of just how good this Champagne is. From the outset it is clear that at Bollinger they really don’t stint in their efforts to make the most of the raw materials they have.
Bollinger is a fuller style than many of the Grande Marque Champagnes owing to the high proportion of Pinot Noir in the blend and they age their wines extensively, even the Special Cuvée spends three years in the cellar before disgorgement, which is double the legal minimum and it is then given a further 3 to 6 months before being labelled and released. This adds a lovely weight and texture and makes it a remarkably joyous drink, top notch drinking we highly recommend – at a brilliant price. So raise a glass to whichever shade you follow – allez les bleus!
For even greater Bollinger indulgence, do keep your eyes peeled for our very limited Bollinger 2002 RD pre-release offer early next week.
Offer Available from Saturday 22nd March until Friday 18th of April.
** Don’t forget our March Sale is ongoing on our website and there’s plenty of good wines still to be had. **
