We are often asked about wine tasting courses, but we do not provide wine courses ourselves.
We are happy to pass on news of one that is happening quite close to all of our shops, run by Leith’s School of Food and Wine and with Richard Bampfield MW in the chair, and it’s a ‘proper’ Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) course, so possibly quite hard work and finishes with an exam, but does get you WSET ‘Level 3’ Award, at which point you will know considerably more than what colour red wine is.
The venue is the Sloaney Pony (the White Horse pub at Parson’s Green), and the course dates are 14th-18th July, 9:00 am to 5pm every day with the exam taking place at Leith’s on the 21st. The cost of the course and the exam is £625.
WSET Level 3 Award in Wines & Spirits
The Wine and Spirit Education Trust Level 3 Award in Wines & Spirits is for anyone wishing to gain in-depth knowledge of wines and spirits. It is open to students who hold the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits or can demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge.
Taught by Richard Bampfield, Masters of Wine, you will acquire a thorough understanding of the factors influencing the style, quality and price of wines from key wine producing regions of the world, and develop analytical tasting skills using the systematic approach to tasting.
This qualification has full accreditation from the UK Government’s Qualifications & Curriculum Authority as a Level 3 Vocational Qualification. It is recommended that you complete the Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits before progressing to the Level 3 Award.
This course will be held at The White Horse, 1-3 Parson’s Green, London SW6 4UL
The examination (multiple choice paper, question paper and blind tasting of two wines) will take place at Leiths on Monday 21 July.
