Our very own Angus Barcroft was lucky enough to be granted a place on L'Academie du Champagne's summer course. This is no industry jolly. The week includes lectures led by the principals and winemakers of the sixteen member Houses covering all aspects of Champagne from viticulture to marketing.

L&S Top Brass Charles Lea: I'm rather hoping to get a chance to raid the better end of my brother-in-law's cellar - the 2002 Vieux Château Certan was particularly memorable last time.

2018 marks an important anniversary for Lea & Sandeman as we celebrate our 30th Anniversary, but also for Nyetimber, probably England's most famous producer of Sparkling Wine. In 1988, as Charles and Patrick were busy setting up L&S in London, the Nyetimber vines were being planted here in West Sussex.

Louis Roederer is one of the very best of the Grande Marque Champagne producers. Perhaps most famous for its uber cuvée Cristal – the house’s real focus, however, is the Brut Premier. Made by the same team with the same principals in the cellar as its famous stablemate, this is a pure pleasure to drink.

Louis Roederer is one of the largest remaining independent Champagne Houses, owned by the same family since it was founded in 1776, the same year that the USA was officially founded. The house is famous for making 'Cristal' - the highly demanded Super Cuvée - but the Brut Premier is their classic, non vintage blend and represents excellent quality in the slightly fuller, creamier style.
