Shy nose: underlying ripeness has more to give. Fine, linear fruit palate - not as rich or voluptuous as some, with good definition leading to a frim finish. Not big, but powerful with lovely purity on the finish. Needs time. (Richard Mayson's Expert's Choice) Drinking range: 2019 - 2050 Rating: 95 Decanter Magazine (Dec 2014)

A landmark vintage: the 1994s are just coming round to drink and promise a long life ahead. Restrained aromas with ripe, plummy fruit just emerging. Full and sweet on the palate: well-defined plum and berry fruit backed by solid, ripe tannins with dark chocolate depth and concentration extending through the finish. Drinking range: 2014 - 2050 Rating: 96 Decanter Magazine (Oct 2014)

In a word, superb. It's full-bodied, moderately sweet and incredibly tannic, but there's amazing finesse and refinement to the texture, not to mention fabulous, concentrated aromas of raspberries, violets and other flowers. Perhaps the greatest Taylor ever, it's better than either the 1992 or the 1970. My favourite Taylor has always been the 1948, which is still stupendous to drink today. However, I had never given a Taylor 100 points until I tasted the 1994. Best after 2010. Rating: 100 James Suckling, The Wine Spectator (Jan 2009)
