A serious, smartly spiced nose leads to a bright full-on palate-ful of joy. There are beautiful red fruit aromas that meld seamlessly into spiced plum juice, some orange zest and delicious kick of dark morello cherry. This has great verve and vigour but is so well balanced by the weight of ‘just-ripe’ fruit. Lovely soft-grained tannins add no hardness just a gentle impression of weight - holding together the perfumed, rich fruit. Gorgeous, sophisticated claret for drinking - from this very special vintage, which is just hitting its stride now. L&S (Oct 2018)

Round and juicy and fresh. Very direct and well balanced. Not the most concentrated 2010 Médoc perhaps but this certainly shouldn’t disappoint. Drinking range: 2018 - 2030 Rating: 16.5 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Oct 2018)

It is not often you come across a 2010 vintage Cru Bourgeois Bordeaux in this price bracket. Fourcas Dupré hails from Listrac, one of the six communal appellations of Médoc and usually comes into its own after a decade and can last at least that long again. Composed primarily of equal amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, it is made in a rich earthy style and should be decanted at least two hours before drinking. Ideal with any roast meat or game.Bruce Palling, The Week (Jan 2018)

Extremely rich on the nose then gorgeously smooth and polished but with freshness. Almost Margaux-like with a 2010 density. Very impressive at this stage. Just falls away a little on the end. A tiny bit stringy, but very well done! Tasted later the same day: Very dark blackish crimson. Heady wine taken to the limit of ripeness. Luscious in the mouth with sufficient acidity. Lots of tannin but no excess of sweetness nor alcohol. A bit sweet and soft. Certainly better than any wine from this property that I can remember. Drinking range: 2018 - 2028 Rating: 16.5 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Apr 2011)

Château Fourcas Dupré

A 46ha estate in Listrac, the highest point in the Medoc, with a mix of well drained soils, 80% Pyrenean gravels, 20% clay-limestone. Originally called Château Roulet, Jean Antoine Baptiste Dupré renamed the estate in 1843.

The vineyards are planted with 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Vinification is classical, with four weeks in vats, barrels and amphora, after which the wine is aged 14 fourteen months in french oak barrels, of which 25% are new each year. The consultant oenologist is Eric Boissenot.
