Arnaldo Caprai's Grechetto is back on top form with the 2010 vintage. Fresh and fruity with a lovely, long, lively mineral finish, this one again qualifies as the 'Chablis' of Italy. A fabulous easy drinking Italian white with bags of class and style. L&S (Jan 2011)

What a delight; an Umbrian white that has the refreshing sculpted quality of a large wave in mid-ocean. It's made from Grechetto (a grape also used in Orvieto), and the smell rears out of the glass, startlingly mineral and reminiscent of tarragon and pears. Arnaldo-Caprai
The Caprai winery and vineyards lie on the hillside below the Umbrian hilltop town of Montefalco. Founded in 1971 by Arnaldo-Caprai Caprai, and now in the hands of his son Marco, the estate has become the leading producer of Sagrantino wines in the region. Sagrantino shows no resemblance to any of Italy's other grape varieties, and is almost exclusive to the region of Montefalco - it is thick-skinned, small bunched and small-berried, but big in every other way: colour, tannins, acids, extracts, and sugars.
