Foxy! Curves and sexy supple volupté. A Jessica Rabbit of a wine, vampish strutting richness and bouncy depth. Succulent with a strange saline length, it seems to be on springs. Huge fun. Rating: 93-94 L&S (Apr 2014)

Still youthfully rambunctious, this is packed with pineapple, ginger, bitter almond and apricot flavors. Despite the heft and weight, this has a glistening acidity. Drinking range: 2018 - 2035 Rating: 94 James Molesworth, The Wine Spectator (Jan 2016)

Full medium yellow-gold. Cool, discreet aromas of yellow plum, green papaya and mint; this strikes me as being a little less noble rot-affected than some other 2013 wines. Very suave and fresh on entry, then pure and powerful in the middle palate, with a silky texture and subtle, crisp flavors of lemon, lime, apple and caramelized ginger. This very precise, refined, persistent wine is already hard to resist. Made in a fresher, less-fat style than some previous vintages, which seemed a little chunky to me. Fragrant on the nose quite light there is a mix of tropical fruits on the start of the palate. The mid palate feels richer sweet fruited orange peel and apricot and at the back there is weight of fruit richness sweetness. 2018-35. Rating: 88-92 Derek Smedley MW, www.dereksmedleymw.co.uk

Château Doisy Védrines

Barsac Deuxième cru 1855 As one might expect, there was originally one Doisy estate. Sometime in the earlier 19th Century, it was divided into three parts - two smaller parts were sold to the Dubroca brothers and Jean-Jacques Emmanuel Daëne becoming the rarely encountered Château Doisy-Dubroca and Château Doisy-Daëne respectively, whilst the larger proportion became Château Doisy-Védrines. In 1851, it was purchased by the Boireau family who's descendents the, Castéja family, own Doisy-Védrines to this day. Around 30ha of vineyard are planted with 85% Semillon and 15% Sauvignon Blanc. Fermentation is in stainless-steel before and 18 month aging period in oak, of which 70% is new. Doisy-Védrines is a richer rounder style than Doisy-Daëne. Interestingly, although entitled to the Barsac appellation, the wines are always labelled as Sauternes.
