The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Rancho Pequeno Vineyard No. 2 is a meaningful step up from the 2015, but it is also quite modest in depth and intensity. Silky tannins lend finesse to the dark cherry, mocha, spice and new leather flavours. Ultimately, the 2016 may turn out to be a more complex wine than the 2015. Even if it does, my sense is that this site is better suited to a richer style of Cabernet. Drinking range: 2018 - 2023 Rating: 88-91 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Sept 2018)
