This Cuvée is fermented and aged in Amphora and it gives the wine a distinctive feel. Pure and lithe, the aromatics are pushed forward, blueberry, cherry and smoked tea, concise and taut. In the mouth that pure feel continues, fresh cool currant and cherry fruitiness, tea and tobacco leaf notes, hints of violets and fresh herbs. It is a wine that you find yourself going back to again and again as it refreshes and evolves as you drink it, best served cellar temperature. Drinking range: 2020 - 2025 L&S (Jun 2020)

Certified organic with all their practices done according to lunar cycles. 60-year-old Cabernet Franc vines on red sands and clay with veins of yellow limestone. Hand-picked, destemmed, fermented in tronconique wooden vats. Two-thirds of the wine is aged in wood and one-third in amphorae for 13 months. Dark, sweetly fruited nose. A harmony of ripe, wild blackberry fruit and white pepper and tarragon that fills the mouth with a vertical lift and tingles into every corner. This is coiled and vibrating with excitement. An intricate whisper of tannins, like Bruges lace spun with micron-thin silver wire. Strength and fragility. A wine of subtle contradictions. The ripe, black fruit reddens and sharpens on the finish. The pepper turns greener and more menthol. The inner texture, pulled as taut as an artist's canvas, ripples into linen ribbons. Domaine Yannick Amirault
Yannick Amirault took over three and a half hectares of vines from his grandfather 30 years ago, and today with his son Benoit works 12 hectares in Bourgeuil and 7 in St-Nicholas-de-Bourgeuil. The vineyards have been worked organically for 15 years and have been certified Organic since 2009. The family are seriously talented in the cellar and not shy of trying new things - the new Malgagnes cuvée which ages in their special Jarres are testament to this. Everything is hand harvested and hard work in the vineyards means only the very best fruit is brought in. Only natural yeasts are used, with fermentations being allowed as long as they need. These wines are crisp and bright with a dramatic purity - made as naturally as possible but without having any unsatisfactory 'natural' traits. Incredible quality here across the range.
