Aromas of blackberries and currants with cloves, vanilla, hazelnut and wet stones. It’s full and structured with velvety, polished tannins and creamy texture. Deep, toned dark fruit character with some salinity to it. Lingering finish with notes of graphite and walnuts. Try after 2025. Rating: 94 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com (May 2023)

An excellent quality 32ha estate that just keeps on getting better and better over recent vintages, it really is turning into one of the insider wines of St Emilion. Integrated oak, whisp of gunsmoke and peony flowers, widens through the mid palate to show creamy damson and black cherry, cocoa bean and fresh acidities. Clear ageing ability. Axel Marchal consultant, Gonzague de Lambert director. Drinking range: 2025 - 2040 Rating: 94 Jane Anson, Decanter (Feb 2023)
The 2020 Château de Ferrand has retained its "breezy" bouquet with upfront, red cherries, raspberry coulis and floral scents; orange zest is hiding in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins. As I found previously, it feels a bit rigid and needs more flair on its briny finish. Not bad at all, but I feel this could have been better. Drinking range: 2026 - 2038 Rating: 87 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Feb 2023)
The 2020 Château de Ferrand has a bright, breezy nose of vivacious red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit, light floral aromas emerging with time. The smooth palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a spicy finish. Not bad, even if does lacks a bit of complexity. Drinking range: 2026 - 2038 Rating: 86-88 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (May 2021)
Château de Ferrand
Chateau de Ferrand was founded in 1702 by Elie de Bétoulaud in honour of the 'Sun King' Louis XIV, and is today owned by the Baron de Bich family. We have all had a BIC-pen in our hand at least once in our lives, another product of the de Bich family. Only these two families have been owners of Chateau de Ferrand since the year 1702.
