Fresh and pure. Very classic feel. Lovely Chablis character. Lots of acidity - but also plenty of well shaped fruit. Citrus leads and then a pithy grip. Good but tight for now - will be wonderful after a moment in bottle. L&S (Nov 2022)

It’s immediately clear from the cool and pure nose that this could be from nowhere else but Chablis. The delicious, intense and solidly concentrated middleweight flavors possess excellent depth and persistence on the bone-dry finish. The 2021 Chablis Village, a blend of several parcels comprising four hectares, has a well-defined bouquet with fine delineation. Light white flower and citrus peel. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite lively with a cohesive and lightly spiced finish that lingers in the mouth. Very fine. Domaine Laurent Tribut
Laurent Tribut is married to Vincent Dauvissat's sister, Marie Clotilde. When he started he made his wines in the Dauvissat cellar in Chablis, but now this small family-run domaine is based in Poinchy. Laurent has now officially retired and has now handed over to three of their four children (Solange, Adeline and Gabriel), with Solange taking the lead in the winery. With Laurent’s guidance the future here looks very bright.
With just 6 hectares the quantities are small - but the quality of all the cuvées is extraordinary. Pure, powerfully driven, classically shaped there is more than a passing similarity to the wines of his brother-in-law, the head-line grabbing Vincent Dauvissat. Buyers will enjoy these long-lived wines with some time in bottle too - they have a great ability to age and patience will pay off, we recently tasted the 1er Cru Côte de Léchet 2004 with Laurent in his cellar and it was bright, young and full of vigour - nearly 15 years on, and in 2020 the 2000 Beauroy was still in it’s prime. This is brilliant, classic Chablis.

A case for the connoisseur: this is half a dozen wines that could play a leading role in any Christmas line-up. The headline act may well be Château des Tours at better-than-case-price, but it's a stellar line-up with Grand Cru grower Champagne, Patagonian Chardonnay from Jean-Marc Roulot and a powerful Châteauneuf also in the mix.

Slightly paler than the Crays, this is all in finesse. Slightly leaner too - a blade-like slipping wet stone and rock juice. It's immensely attractive without being as 'large' as the Crays.

20-30% Pinot Blanc in the vineyard. Long fermentation, so still half-made when we tasted. Good volume and body, it's something a little different, but very likeable. Not very deep soils - it's on pebbles.
