If you’re just eating melon slices with a glass of wine as a pre-barbecue late-afternoon snack or as a pudding, then a Moscato d’Asti is a great pick with perfumed melons such as galia or cantaloupe. This Italian sparkling white wine is low in alcohol and sweet without being cloying. The grape variety is, as the name suggests, moscato, which is pretty much the only grape whose wine actually tastes, well, grapey. [...] a favourite is the peachy, herbal GD Vajra Moscato d’Asti. Victoria Moore, The Daily Telegraph (Aug 2022)

Azienda Agricola G.D. Vajra
The winery of G.D. Vajra was initially established in 1972, although the Vajra family dates back more than two centuries in the Barolo region. Aldo and his wife Milena own the vineyards, mainly all situated in Barolo. His winemaking techniques are quite traditional, using longer maceration times and primarily Slavonian casks for ageing. However he would not describe his style as tradtional, but forward thinking and happy to evolve depending on the vintage. As the vineyards are situated 400m above sea level, the grapes ripen later than in other areas, resulting in wonderfully fresh wines with balanced acidity.
