A convergence of flavours from five separate vineyards located in the Awatere, Southern Valleys and Rapaura sub regions, this is classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at its finest. Harvested at optimum ripeness, the grapes were gently pressed and fermented, at cool temperatures, in stainless steel to maximise fruit purity and character. The wine was then aged on fine lees for 3 months, adding texture, complexity and increased mouth-feel to the palate. An abundance of blackcurrant, white peach and chalky aromas lead to a palate which is dry and refreshing with great concentration, beautiful fruit purity and mouth-watering acidity.L&S (Nov 2022)
A pure and restrained style, the 2022 Sauvignon Blanc Convergence has appealing elderflower characters rather than bright tropicality. Full-bodied and tender with a sense of ease, this makes a for a satisfying, early-drinking Sauvignon. Drinking range: 2023 - 2035 Rating: 88 Rebecca Gibb MW - Vinous.com (Apr 2023)
The two rivers in question are the Awatere and Wairau, and the convergence is the combination of the grapes that grow on both banks of these Marlborough waterways in New Zealand. The winery’s aim is to create inspiring wines with “elegance, purity and a sense of place” and it has to be said it’s succeeded, aided by the decision to ferment a portion of the wine in concrete egg tanks and clay amphora and then to age it on light yeast lees for three months. The outcome is a wine with a texture and a huge depth of flavour that encompasses lime, tropical fruit and peach with notes of coconut and flinty minerality.John Clarke - The Independent (Feb 2023)
Two Rivers of Marlborough
David Clouston is originally from Marlborough, and after 22 vintages abroad from Oregon to Chile, Corsica to Alsace, he returned home and set about exploring the valleys and diverse terroirs of Marlborough. The main production is the Sauvignon made from fruit from both the Awatere and Wairau river valleys, whence the 'Two Rivers of Marlborough' name, but his hillside Pinot Noir is showing great potential.
