Another gorgeously proportioned and fragrant Pinot from this brilliant cooler part of South Africa. Bright red fruits burst from the glass with raspberry, cherry and damson, undercut with delicate earthy spice. Vivacious and mouthfilling with red fruits to the fore once again, succulent and pure with a hint of the hedgerow, a fine tannic frame and sleek acid push to the finish. L&S (Sept 2024)

Translucent ruby. Well-defined nose of cool, pure, ripe red fruit with earthy notes in support. Great poise between sweet and savoury. Very much cool-climate Pinot, but with an inviting generosity of fruit on the palate, too. Fine, light tannins and lovely refreshment. Long red-fruit and sandalwood finish. Moya Meaker
Canadian businessman and former owner of Bordeaux’s Chateau Gaby, David Curl married South African born Genevieve Hamilton-Brown which ultimately led them to Elgin where they acquired a farm called Habibi, planted mainly to apples but also including small parcels of Pinot Noir and Shiraz, the resulting wines named after Genevieve’s late mother Moya Meaker, who was crowned Miss South Africa in 1959.
