Cask sample. Mid garnet – rather dull colour actually. Rather sweaty nose and then complexity on the palate – complexity that is rare in 2023s at this stage. Quite a bit of chew and this is obviously a baby. Sweet and chewy and still just a collection of elements. This is very classy. Deep with beautiful concentration- but not too tight. Really good feel. Some dark edges will need patience and a cool dark cellar, but this has great detail and aromatics and proper smart lines and lift. All here just needs time to piece together properly.L&S (Nov 2024)

This is a standout Clos de Bèze with a sumptuous nose, dense layers of ripe fruit and an exorbitantly long finish. Strawberry preserves, cherry cobbler, fresh oak spice and a touch of mocha offer a profusion of flavor on the palate. Riveting in complexity and grandiose in class. Part of the domaine since the 1930s, the oldest vines here are now from 1949. Rating: 97 Tim Atkin MW, www.timatkin.com (Jan 2025)

(from a 1.29 ha parcel). This is also firmly reduced and revealing nothing but a tinge of spiciness. Once again the caressing and seductive mouthfeel of the medium weight flavors is striking thanks to the finegrained tannins that shape the wonderfully complex and impeccably well-balanced finale. I particularly like the inner mouth perfume that only adds to the appeal of this very classy effort. Drinking range: 2035 - Rating: 92-95 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2025)

Domaine Faiveley

The Faiveley family are the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, owning around 120ha, spread across the Côte de Nuits, Beaune and Chalonnaise and encompassing everything from generic Bourgogne up to the grandest of Grand Crus. Their holdings supply the grapes for 5 out of every 6 bottles made by Faiveley, the balance being bought in from carefully selected contract growers.
