A really charming, bright and well-defined fruit profile on the nose of the 2023 from Château de Ferrand, with fresh and ripe raspberry and red cherry, swirled with softening layers of vanilla, toast and dark chocolate. This is followed by a quite delicious style on the palate, harmonious and pure, with a sinewy and mouth-watering substance, balanced by an understated frame of sappy and well-knit tannins, leading to a modestly gripped finish. Fresh and perfumed, with an elegant poise but plenty of structure and the fresh acidity of the vintage, this is a restrained style which should evolve well. Attractive depth of fruit with blackberry and black olive, as well as crushed stone. Full-bodied with chewy and polished tannins that are velvety but muscular. 3.52 pH gives it verve. Chateau de Ferrand was founded in 1702 by Elie de Bétoulaud in honour of the 'Sun King' Louis XIV, and is today owned by the Baron de Bich family. We have all had a BIC-pen in our hand at least once in our lives, another product of the de Bich family. Only these two families have been owners of Chateau de Ferrand since the year 1702.
