Vineyard Clos des Cortons

The 2023 Corton Clos des Cortons Faiveley Grand Cru has quite a floral bouquet mainly featuring red fruit, cranberry and redcurrant notes. It's not as concentrated as the previous vintage yet it's well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a hint of crunchy red fruit, a twist of sour lemon and plenty of energy, with an impressive, mineral-driven finish. This endears itself on acquaintance and it should age well in bottle. Drinking range: 2028 - 2055 Rating: 93-95 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Nov 2024)

Bright and mineral restraint. Fine tannin. Great grip and power. Fruit in the background is nicely weighted darker hued and deep reds - but much more measure here to the richness. Clean, long and nicely intense. L&S (Nov 2024)

Singing with red fruit intensity, this starts with red currants, lingonberries and cherries along with tangy rhubarb and vanilla bean. Punctuated by raspy acidity and finessed tannins, this gently drifts into a long, distinguished finish. Technically part of Corton Rognet, this monopole has been owned by the family since 1874 and their name was attached to the wine in the 1930s. Rating: 95 Tim Atkin MW, www.timatkin.com (Jan 2025)

Enough wood to merit mentioning is present on the nose of spicy and ripe red and dark currant along with suggestions of earth and the sauvage. I very much like the mouthfeel of the solidly voluminous flavors that also exude a borderline palpable minerality on the compact, backward and built-to-age finale. This will need to add depth with time in bottle so at least some keeping is advised. Drinking range: 2035 - Rating: 91-93 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2025)

Domaine Faiveley

The Faiveley family are the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, owning around 120ha, spread across the Côte de Nuits, Beaune and Chalonnaise and encompassing everything from generic Bourgogne up to the grandest of Grand Crus. Their holdings supply the grapes for 5 out of every 6 bottles made by Faiveley, the balance being bought in from carefully selected contract growers.
