The 2023 Echézeaux En Orveau Grand Cru comes from a parcel close to the lieu-dit of Petit Musigny on marl soils. This is very composed on the nose with delineated berry fruit, loam and forest floor scents. It's certainly one of the more understated Echézeaux. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit. It is quite energetic, with a fine bead of acidity and a sense of brightness on the finish that is very appealing. This is another 2023 from Faiveley whose charms reveal themselves gradually in the glass. Drinking range: 2028 - 2048 Rating: 92-94 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Nov 2024)

Jérôme says this is more Chambolle than Vosne, and he feels it performs best in warm vintages given its high elevation up by the forest. It is definitely classy and charming with juicy red berries and a scintillating quiver of acidity. Flattering spice drawer notes accompany the extended finish. Chambolle-sque for sure. Rating: 95 Tim Atkin MW, www.timatkin.com (Jan 2025)

Moderate reduction dominates the underlying fruit today. Otherwise, there is better volume and density to the medium-bodied flavors that are shaped by admirably fine-grained tannins on the balanced and impressively persistent finale. This is an Echézeaux of finesse and refinement. Drinking range: 2033 - Rating: 91-94 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2025)

Cask sample. Really rather a pale ruby-garnet. Mild nose and sweetness with a hint of oak still. Juicy, quite evolved fruit. Can it be worth a grand cru price? (JR) Drinking range: 2028 - 2043 Rating: 16.5+ Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Nov 2024)
