(from a .13 ha holding; 50% whole clusters). A discreet application of wood is present on the markedly cool, airy and floral-suffused nose that offers up notes of red currant, spice, Asian-style tea and a whiff of star anise. The broadshouldered flavors are borderline painfully intense while again exuding almost palpable amounts of minerality on the driving, linear and exceptionally firm yet beautifully well-balanced finale that is supported by bright acidity. This is clearly built for the medium to long haul and is a wine that will need it. Much like the Clos de Bèze, this is really very classy. Drinking range: 2035 - Rating: 93-96 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2025)

Altogether a fuller mid purple colour. The bouquet too is more sumptuous, though needing some coaxing, and then the velvety depths start to emerge. High class tension at the back, with the lift which comes from a proportion of whole bunches. Drinking range: 2032 - 2045 Rating: **** Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy (Jan 2025)
The 2023 Musigny Grand Cru comes from Faiveley's 0.14 hectares of vine. It is matured with 50% whole bunch entirely in new oak. This was just about to be bottled to mitigate the influence of the wood. That was a wise decision because the oak is shaping the aromatics at the moment, though there is plenty of attractive red fruit underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant, quite saturated tannins and blood orange infusing the red fruit with a vanillary finish. It has good potential. Drinking range: 2030 - 2065 Rating: 94-96 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2025)
