A good mouthful of floral and red fruit, with fine lively tannins all the way through. Thibault says that this is less compact and more in finesse than some recent vintages, and it would be hard to disagree, but it is no wimp either. Drinking range: 2020 - L&S (Nov 2014)

A medium depth of colour. The bouquet is predominantly dark fruited, showing a medium to deep weight of fruit on the palate, with the complexity of this great vineyard. The potential of this wine without immediate glossy charmereminds me of Lafarge in some ways, majoring on the complexity of different things going on and the eventual persistence. Robust but with an underlying finesse. Drink from 2025-2033. Tasted: June 2023. Drinking range: 2025 - 2033 Rating: **** Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy (Feb 2024)
Sweet and seductive nose, cherry and blackberry aromas given elegance by stylish oak. Perfumed, but not to excess. Fine acidity delivers vibrancy and lifts the fruit, with more red fruits on the palate than the nose. Has a light touch but is full of fruit and silkiness, and the balance will ensure a fine evolution. Drinking range: 2019 - 2032 Rating: 93 Stephen Brook, Decanter.com (Mar 2019)
A brilliant red colour. The nose is cool and very fresh. Wild strawberries, red and blackcurrants. Sweet on the strike. Slim and trim and juicy. It is certainly sprightly on the palate. Delicate and elegant. It has slim texture crunchy taffeta tannins. It’s a lighter bodied wine with plenty of freshness, peppery and lively finish. You taste a cool minerality at the very end. A lovely 2013. Itwill come round more quickly, but should age well as the balance is here. Drinking range: 2022 - Rating: 18.25 Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing (Dec 2017)
Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair
Thibault Liger-Belair has two hectares in Les Saint Georges, the vineyard which gives Nuits the rest of its name, and 60 ares out of a total of 4 hectares of the Grand Cru Richebourg, as well as a good holding in the Clos Vougeot and some well-placed village wines. The vineyards are a good start, but it is Thibault himself who has catapulted this domaine straight into the very top echelons of Côte de Nuits domaines from his first vintage (2002). Thibault was trained as an oenologist but first worked as a wine buyer. He has come to wine making with a wide experience of wine buying, and has had the advantage of having discussed wine-making for many years, with the benefit of his oenological background, with some of the best winemakers of the world. Viticulture is biodynamic (since 2005), yields low but not ludicrously low, everything is pragmatic, so that he should be doing just what is necessary and no more. He uses 40-50% new wood maximum. The wines are bright, pure, focused, aromatic and elegant without lacking anything in the way of stuffing.
