2020 'Limestone' Essenheim Weingut Braunewell
Grapes | Pinot Noir |
Colour | Red |
Origin | Germany, Rheinhessen |
ABV | 13% |
Vineyard | Essenheim |
Gorgeously expressive and fragrant with intense cherry and wild strawberry fruit. In the mouth the wine has some lovely weight, with a sleek fruit profile, red fruits, earth and spice, a bit of sinew from the tannins and then a lively acid balance, sapid and rich and long. L&S (Jun 2024)

Weingut Braunewell
François Breiniville fled 17th Century France's Huguenot persecution to settle in Essenheim, just south west of Mainz.
It took until the 1960's for Adam Braunewell to start bottling the wines from his family's vineyards and, today, he helps his children and grandchildren run this excellent estate and tend their flagship vineyards of Blume and Teufelspfad (the Devil's path!)
