Such a smart feel. Immediately charms you with sophisticated joy. There's good pep though and some burnt rubber which is a good line of countering savouriness. 1/3 of this fruit comes from Premeaux, vines on compacted clay, which does add oomph. the other 2/3s come from vines in Chambolle - which are on very soft light chalky clay - this proportion adds real finesse to the cuvée and certainly is the dominant influence. The 2023 is fresh and juicy with excellent colour and texture as well as well-formed Pinot expression. L&S (Nov 2024)

Cask sample. Lightish crimson. Attractive focus on the fruit: dark-red and with a hint of sweetness. This has a lot of matière for a Bourgogne. Deep, chewy, harmonious and sustained. Terrific bite of freshness on the finish and firm but smooth tannins perfectly judged for the fruit. VGV (JH) Drinking range: 2026 - 2030 Rating: 16.5 Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2025)

This is also ripe and earthy though the fruit derives more from the red side of the spectrum. The mouthfeel of the medium weight flavors is slightly sleeker if not quite as dense while offering reasonably good depth and persistent on the lightly austere finale. This is also very good for its level. Drinking range: 2026 - Rating: 86-89 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2025)

The 2023 Bourgogne Grand Chaillots is a blend of three lieux-dits. It has a delicate red berry-scented bouquet, the 20% whole cluster imparting a light bell pepper note. The palate is well balanced with a fresh, tart cherry finish. Fine. Drinking range: 2026 - 2029 Rating: 85-87 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2025)

Thibault Liger-Belair Successeurs

The lack of the word 'domaine' in the name signals that this is a négociant wine from Thibault Liger-Belair. On the whole Thibault buys grapes having tended the vines with his own team, so that the wines are domaine wines in all but name.
