Vineyard Les Belles Croix

This vineyard is very much on the 'Nuits' side, geographically but in character too. Just 0.70 hectares of vines planted in 1954. After the Charmottes this feels quite firm in contrast. More grip and power. Its no surprise there is more clay here. The darkish fruit core is lovely and juicy with blackberry and sweet damson. 45% Whole Bunch this year, to help with freshness. The result is delicious, just more bold than Charmotte. More long term. But good classic Nuits Saint Georges. L&S (Nov 2024)

A surprisingly elegant nose features plenty of floral elements on the essence of red berry and softly earthy nose. There is excellent volume to the generously proportioned medium-bodied flavors that possess a lovely sense of underlying tension on the complex, youthfully austere and ever-so-slightly warm finale. This is really quite good, especially for its level and recommended. Drinking range: 2030 - Rating: 89-92 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2025)

The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Belle Croix comes from deeper soils. Touches of dark chocolate suffuse the pretty red berry fruit, as undergrowth scents emerge with time. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins, displaying much more poise and sophistication than the La Charmotte with a satisfyingly cohesive finish. Recommended. Drinking range: 2027 - 2042 Rating: 90-92 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2025)

A more vibrant ruby colour. Fuller fruit from a slightly more clay rich soil, with 20% whole bunch vinification. The nose is only just starting to emerge, with crisp strawberry note and good tension on the palate. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Nov 2024. Drinking range: 2028 - 2033 Rating: **** Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy  (Nov 2024)

Thibault Liger-Belair Successeurs

The lack of the word 'domaine' in the name signals that this is a négociant wine from Thibault Liger-Belair. On the whole Thibault buys grapes having tended the vines with his own team, so that the wines are domaine wines in all but name.
