We have long been fans of this brilliant Champagne House. Still family owned, Roederer is famed for owning the largest amount of their own vines, compared to any of the other Grandes Marques houses. The current release of the 'Brut Premier' is based on the 2013 harvest and after nearly 4 years on the lees in bottle this was disgorged last year and is now looking superb. As always it walks the fine line between brightness and fruit weight. Deliciously fresh and crisp, yet creamy and warmly biscuity too. A great wine and also a perfect intro to the wines of this historic house, most famous for their Cristal Champagne - the Brut Premier is a delicious, sophisticated glass of Champagne. L&S (May 2018)

Some real depth on this nose with all the elements building on each other. Really is superior! Great harmony and nothing out of place. Incredibly persistent. Bravo! Rating: 17 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jul 2019)
The nose is super fresh and has plenty of ripe strawberries, along with lemons and grapefruit. The palate has a tense, fresh, mineral-salt core and then layers of fleshier, supple fruit. All you want in a great NV! This is 75 per cent from the cooler 2013 harvest, the balance made up of reserve wines, ten per cent of which is much older material. Drink or hold. Rating: 92 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com (Aug 2018)
Known for its high percentage of estate vineyards, this excellent non-vintage only uses approximately 10% of bought-in Pinot Meunier - the remainder is a rough 50/50 split between Pinot Noir and Chardonnay estate fruit. It has a zesty lemon and fresh apple character, with a steely mineral note and some wood and cream in the background. This is fresh, but nicely rounded. Rating: 90 Decanter Magazine (Oct 2017)
Louis Roederer
Louis Roederer is one of the largest remaining independent Champagne Houses, owned by the same family since it was founded in 1776. The house firmly established its reputation through its guiding principles: great wine depends on the quality of the soil. A passion for tradition, and an astute vision of the future.
Louis Roederer lays claim to 250 hectares to call their own (a rarity among the Grand Marque Houses) which has been cultivated organically and Biodynamically since 2000. Through these sustainable farming practices, Louis Roederer have a greater understanding about how champagne may be made to deal with ecological concerns, consumer taste and climate change. These vineyards are located in three classic Champagne districts: Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne, and the Côte des Blancs. The diversity of these sites provides the House with an extensive and rich palette to fashion the wines from.
In 1876, Nicholas II of Russia requested Louis Roederer to reserve the house's best cuvée just for him in a crystal bottle, leading to the now famous 'Cristal', the very first Cuvée de Prestige. A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir produced only in the best years, with long cellar aging.
At the centre of Louis Roederer is Collection. A multi-vintage blend of wines from selected vineyard plots in the Cœur de Terroir (the heart of the terroir). Each Collection's number represents the number of blends since the birth of the Louis Roederer Champagne House. Working with lower yields and riper fruit, the dosage is lower to balance the wines after long cellar aging, producing finer bubbles and a creamy, yet dry texture.
