MOREY SAINT DENIS
2012 La Rue de Vergy Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot
Bright medium red. Inviting aromas of redcurrant, crushed rock and rose petal. Densely packed and not at all overly sweet, showing excellent spicy lift to its bright flavors of red berries and flowers. Finishes suave, serious and long. From a yield of around 20 hectoliters per hectare, and it shows in this wine's concentration. Drinking range: 2020 - 2027 Rating: 91+ Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Mar 2015)
* This is a pre-shipment/primeur offer. All orders are accepted under the TERMS of this offer which differ from the terms of the rest of the site.
Good bright, dark red. Aromas of raspberry, redcurrant and crushed stone. Fat and sweet, but with lovely mineral thrust and energy to the flavors of crushed raspberry and cranberry. Finishes with suave tannins and excellent length and lift. Rating: 90-92 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Mar 2014)
Perrot-Minot's 2012 Morey-Saint-Denis La Rue de Vergy impresses for its pure mineral and graphite-inflected cut. Dark red cherries, plums, cloves, menthol and savory herbs are all layered into the vibrant, brilliant finish. 2016-2022 Rating: 88-90 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Jan 2014)
A ripe and exceptionally fresh nose of black cherries, earth and a whiff of wet stone leads to very supple, round and refined middle weight flavors where the minerality reappears on the spicy, balanced and lingering finish. This is very pretty if not particularly deep, or at least not yet. 2017+ Rating: 88-91 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2014)
The 2012 Morey Saint Denis En La Rue de Vergy comes from the domaine’s 1.5-hectare parcel from 41-year old vines. It sees 20% new oak, the rest one and two years old. It has a very pure, alluring bouquet that is modern in style compared to say, Bruno Clair’s, yet still well defined and attractive. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet candied entry. Soft in texture with a silky finish, I would just like more grip and backbone on the finish. Still, this is a well-made Morey. Rating: 88-90 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2014)
Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot
Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
