BOURGOGNE ALIGOTÉ
2021 le Clos des Perrières la Combe Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair
Cold macerated for a week before pressing, which explains the deep yellow-gold colour. Good broad flavour and with Aligoté's bracing freshness. Drinking range: 2023 - 2025L&S (Oct 2022)

(this was macerated on the skins for an entire week, which is unusual as skin maceration is rarely used in Burgundy and when it is, it’s typically only for a few hours). There is plenty of citrus influence to the aromas of white orchard fruit, petrol and spice. The plump but energetic middleweight flavors exude a refreshing salinity on the lingering finish where a hint of Chablis-like iodine slowly appears Drinking range: 2024 - Rating: 86-89 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jun 2023)
The 2021 Bourgogne Aligoté Clos de Perrière la Combe underwent one week of skin maceration before fermentation. Custard cream and popcorn emerge on the nose: quite expressive and well defined. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity that cuts through the almond and walnut notes that define the finish. Commendable length. This should be difficult to resist once in bottle. Drinking range: 2023 - 2029 Rating: 89-91 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2023)
After one week of skin maceration before fermentation, the wine is transferred to barrel, where it remains. A reasonably profound yellow colour thanks to the skin contact with a forceful bouquet, everything being concentrated including the lightly bitter notes. A deliciously ripe fruit on the palate, with some yellow plums as well as the more typical greengage. Lovely persistent aftertaste. Drinking range: 2024 - 2028 Rating: **** 87-88 Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy (Nov 2022)
Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair
Thibault Liger-Belair has two hectares in Les Saint Georges, the vineyard which gives Nuits the rest of its name, and 60 ares out of a total of 4 hectares of the Grand Cru Richebourg, as well as a good holding in the Clos Vougeot and some well-placed village wines. The vineyards are a good start, but it is Thibault himself who has catapulted this domaine straight into the very top echelons of Côte de Nuits domaines from his first vintage (2002). Thibault was trained as an oenologist but first worked as a wine buyer. He has come to wine making with a wide experience of wine buying, and has had the advantage of having discussed wine-making for many years, with the benefit of his oenological background, with some of the best winemakers of the world. Viticulture is biodynamic (since 2005), yields low but not ludicrously low, everything is pragmatic, so that he should be doing just what is necessary and no more. He uses 40-50% new wood maximum. The wines are bright, pure, focused, aromatic and elegant without lacking anything in the way of stuffing.
Please note that certain wines are on very tight allocations and will first be offered to customers who buy across the range.
