This has the elegance of Chambolle, not like a Clos Vougeot at all - lifted and silky and fine, it hasn't huge structure but floral aromatics and graceful finesse. Jérôme remarks that this is very much the style of the 'en Orveaux' parcel. He used 20% whole bunches here. Drinking range: 2030 - 2040 L&S (Oct 2022)

The 2021 Echézeaux En Orveau Grand Cru comes from a parcel on the south-facing slope and includes some stem addition. It is fragrant on the nose with hints of white pepper and bay leaf embroidered into the lifted red fruit. Quite complex and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with a fresh, almost citrus-like entry, a little bony towards the finish but with more persistence than the Clos Vougeot. Drinking range: 2025 - 2038 Rating: 90-92 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Oct 2023)
A suave, supple style, with fine intensity and energy driving the medley of cherry, strawberry, anise, earth and spice aromas and flavors. Turns more sinewy as this builds in intensity and complexity to the long, expansive aftertaste. Best from 2026 through 2045. Drinking range: 2026 - 2045 Rating: 95 Bruce Sanderson, The Wine Spectator (Aug 2023)
These 40-year-old vines sit next to Musigny. There are three eras of plantation: the 1950s at the top, the 1980s toward the gate and 2013 for the rest. The En Orveaux sector has lots of clay and is very sunny. Pale in color with pretty vinosity and good, red fruit length, this is a head-turning Echézeaux. Jérôme said, "It's best to taste it as though it were a Chambolle." Point taken. Rating: 95 *** Christy Canterbury MW - TimAtkin.com (Feb 2023)
