Cask sample. Crackling texture with lots of energy. Fruit is ripe enough. Quite an emphatic impression on the palate. With the depth of Chambertin but more ethereal. Such a pretty attack, a red fruit spark tingles with juicy joy. Yet this develops quickly to something far more serious - showing true Grand Cru pedigree. The fruit is quite bold - red accented and sleek with a more serious, darker line of sinew building gently towards the finish. Lots of drive. Impressive and charming, but serious too.L&S (Nov 2022)
Taut and sinewy, with cherry, raspberry, menthol and oak spice aromas and flavors under the grip of dense, dusty tannins. The fruit and supple texture still need to emerge and balance the tannins. Domaine Faiveley
The Faiveley family are the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, owning around 120ha, spread across the Côtes de Nuits, Beaune and Chalonnaise and encompassing everything from generic Bourgogne up to the grandest of Grand Crus. Their holdings supply the grapes for 5 out of every 6 bottles made by Faiveley, the balance being bought in from carefully selected contract growers.
