The 2021 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru has a touch of reduction but there is more complexity vis-a-vis the Latricières, a mélange of red and black fruit, sous-bois and pressed flowers. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, well balanced, a liberal sprinkling of black pepper with a nicely focused and quite structured finish (for the vintage). Very fine. Drinking range: 2025 - 2045 Rating: 93-95 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Nov 2022)

Possibly the most fun of the reds here to taste at this early stage from cask. Balance between the bright zip and the underlying power is great. Red berries and deeper, darker juice are measured well with some savour and hedgerow aromatics. There is a nice tension here, with fine grained grip and good push too - one for the cellar and to consider in about 10 years time, at least.L&S (Nov 2022)

Cherry, boysenberry and floral flavors are the main themes, along with an earthy, feral note, shaded by sandalwood and sweet oak spices. This red is taut and linear as it plays out on the compact finish, and though difficult to see where it's going, this is intense and long. Best from 2026 through 2045. Drinking range: 2026 - 2045 Rating: 95 Bruce Sanderson, The Wine Spectator (Aug 2023)

For Flous, this is the wine to age. It is big-boned and dense for sure. Yet its tannins are so refined, especially among Mazis, that it feels rather accessible. Still, it would be a shame to miss what this grand cuvée will offer. Today there is tobacco, savory spice, wild cherries and mulberries. Faiveley has five parcels here that add up to just over 1.5 ha. Drinking range: 2023 - Rating: 96 *** Christy Canterbury MW - TimAtkin.com (Feb 2023)

Domaine Faiveley

The Faiveley family are the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, owning around 120ha, spread across the Côtes de Nuits, Beaune and Chalonnaise and encompassing everything from generic Bourgogne up to the grandest of Grand Crus. Their holdings supply the grapes for 5 out of every 6 bottles made by Faiveley, the balance being bought in from carefully selected contract growers.
