It is the feel here that is so remarkable. In 2021 there are few domaines that have been able to add real texture and impact on the palate, particular with Whites - but the Boillot team have cracked it. Henri chose to use no new wood for the whites - and judging by our tasting in the cellar - it was a great decision. He was visibly delighted as we tasted together, and he explained that the élevage is proving crucial for the wines to build structure and broaden out. This is a very successful Meursault, with pear and citrus notes seamlessly meshing with some firmish golden apple crunch too. Measured and charming. L&S (Nov 2022)

(a blend of roughly equal proportions from Pelles Dessus, Casse Tête, Grands Charrons, En la Barre, En la Barre, Mal Poirier and En Luraule). This is actually quite aromatically similar to the Bourgogne save for displaying notably more floral elements. The caressing but decidedly punchy medium weight flavors also display fine delineation that carries over to the youthfully austere, lemony and sneaky long finale. This could use better depth but more should reasonably develop if given a chance and my rating assumes that it will. Drinking range: 2027 - Rating: 89 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jun 2023)

The 2021 Meursault, a blend of five parcels across the village, offers good tension and energy, naturally in the smaller-scaled style of the year. Lemon peel, white flowers, mint and white pepper all grace this attractive village-level bottling from Henri Boillot. - Antonio Galloni Drinking range: 2023 - 2029 Rating: 89 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2023)

Domaine Henri Boillot

A domaine which dates to 1885, but which began properly in the early years of the 20th century under the current Henri's grandfather (also Henri). His son, Jean, was the one who really developed it. Henri arrived in 1975 and worked his way up, becoming the winemaker. In 2000 he began the building of the new winery at the bottom of Meursault, and he then bought out his brother and sister to keep the domaine as one, renaming it from 'Domaine Jean Boillot' to 'Domaine Henri Boillot' to avoid confusion with his brother Jean-Marc's domaine.

The Domaine totals around 14 hectares, with roughly equal surfaces of red and white, and of which just under 4ha is the Monopole vineyard of Clos de la Mouchère, a walled enclave within the premier Cru Puligny Perrières. The 2017 vintage saw the arrival of two new parcels of Grand Cru red, in Échezeaux and Latricières Chambertin
