NUITS SAINT GEORGES
2021 1er Cru Les Damodes Domaine Faiveley
The 2021 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Damodes 1er Cru showed just a little reduction on the nose. This does not occlude the florality that ekes out with aeration (unsurprising given its location on the Vosne border). The palate is medium-bodied with quite racy tannins, a citrus-fresh Damodes, linear and maybe a little lean towards the finish but persistent in the mouth. Give it a couple of years in bottle. Drinking range: 2025 - 2040 Rating: 0 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Nov 2022)

The Damodes is always a curious Nuits wine - coming as it does from the northern reaches and abutting the best Vosne Romanée vineyards. Bright and lithe this does not disappoint - with energy and vigour in abundance, after the Porets - you really sense the extra power here. A lovely fresh mineral line keeps it firm but with good bounce and drive.L&S (Nov 2022)
A stunning 2021 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru with wonderful perfume and silkiness, the considerable power underplayed on the concentrated mid-palate, the finish long and delicately mineral. Spot on balance of fruit and restrained oak. Very long finish. Drink or hold. Rating: 95 Stuart Pigott, JamesSuckling.com (Aug 2023)

There is enough wood framing the spicy and mildly exotic aromas of tea, orange peel and both red and dark pinot fruit. I very much like the texture and energy of the medium weight flavors that offer good length if only average depth at present though more should develop with a few years of keeping. Drinking range: 2029 - Rating: 89-92 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2023)
Bright, dark, dense purple colour, rich succulent and sumptuous raspberry but happily without coarseness, just exuberance. Some black fruit, this does show signs of being high octane but is rained in by the delicious freshness of the acidity. Rating: *** Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy (Jan 2023)

A notably brighter colour, closer to purple, with the fruit much more present. Robust raspberry, slightly fresher redcurrants too, correct fruit acid balance and the oak not too prominent. Good depth behind. Drinking range: 2027 - 2033 Rating: *** 90-93 Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy (Nov 2022)
Domaine Faiveley
The Faiveley family are the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, owning around 120ha, spread across the Côtes de Nuits, Beaune and Chalonnaise and encompassing everything from generic Bourgogne up to the grandest of Grand Crus. Their holdings supply the grapes for 5 out of every 6 bottles made by Faiveley, the balance being bought in from carefully selected contract growers.
