A beautifully balanced mid purple. The nose is brilliantly expressive, very high-class fruit. A wealth of equally classy ripe red fruit, with a little bit of the rose petals as well. Some astringency at the back from extreme youth, but the fruit is the winner. Very fine indeed. Drinking range: 2028 - 2035 Rating: 92-94 Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy (Oct 2022)

The brightest of his three Volnays that we tasted together - but also the tightest packed for now. Floral on the nose which follows to the palate with smart, pure red fruit jumping out at you. There is weight and more concentration here - with nice ripe red strawberries and sweeter cherry flesh dancing along with real energy. 'Precise' says Henri - and he's right - but also still very youthful and this will undoubtedly gain depth and breadth with patience.L&S (Nov 2022)

The 2021 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru offers notable depth to play off its mid-weight personality. Crushed red berry fruit, blueberry, spice, lavender and dried herbs build nicely in the glass. The Caillerets is a bit somber, but it is also exquisite. There’s a lot of depth and dimension there. This will be a lot of fun to follow. Drinking range: 2024 - 2036 Rating: 91-92 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Nov 2022)

Domaine Henri Boillot

A domaine which dates to 1885, but which began properly in the early years of the 20th century under the current Henri's grandfather (also Henri). His son, Jean, was the one who really developed it. Henri arrived in 1975 and worked his way up, becoming the winemaker. In 2000 he began the building of the new winery at the bottom of Meursault, and he then bought out his brother and sister to keep the domaine as one, renaming it from 'Domaine Jean Boillot' to 'Domaine Henri Boillot' to avoid confusion with his brother Jean-Marc's domaine.

The Domaine totals around 14 hectares, with roughly equal surfaces of red and white, and of which just under 4ha is the Monopole vineyard of Clos de la Mouchère, a walled enclave within the premier Cru Puligny Perrières. The 2017 vintage saw the arrival of two new parcels of Grand Cru red, in Échezeaux and Latricières Chambertin
