Pessac-Léognan
Pessac Léognan, rather like Margaux, is a bit of a mixed bag, but where it's good it's very very good. Haut Brion was probably our wine of the vintage, Haut Bailly, Smith and Domaine de Chevalier have turned in typically strong performances, as has Carmes Haut Brion, the 'new kid on the block', with its shiny new winery and massively improved results. There's terrific value here among some of the lesser wines, but some are not released en primeur - we may add more to this list.
